Why the Product Isn't Enough
For every AI-native company that gets serious interest from an enterprise buyer, the conversation will eventually reach the security team.
The first questions that come up are:
What data trained your model? Who controls the API keys in production? Can you explain a decision your system made? When an employee or user onboard the system, does their queries leave the vector database? Is your system compliant with the EU AI Act?
Most AI founders are not ready for this moment, not because they build a bad product, but because they built the product before building the security and governance layer that enterprise buyers expect to see.
That is where the deal stalls.
Standard SOC 2 preparation was designed for traditional SaaS companies. It was not designed to evaluate your RAG pipelines, vector databases, LLM gateways, model training data provenance, or model access controls.
